The blockchain and crypto sector is well-known for its vastness, and as we all know, only the most adaptable individuals are able to make the most of it. These same flexible users, as is well known, are rewarded for their active engagement with airdrops, juicy APY’s /APR’s, and so on.
Staking has been determined to be an excellent way to earn rewards while helping a project, and this post will take us on a journey through the Sentinel Staking program.

WHAT IS STAKING?

Staking can be considered as the process of delegating or locking up crypto holdings to earn rewards.

“Staking is a term used to refer to the delegating of a certain number of tokens to the governance model of the blockchain and thus locking them out of circulation for a specified length of time,”

ABOUT SENTINEL

Sentinel is a dependable open-source decentralized VPN network application. This is not a single consumer-facing dVPN, but rather a network of separate dVPN applications. Thousands of unique people use the Sentinel dVPN network every day, and live transparent metrics show how much they use it. Proven to keep your data safe and secure by not logging it.

STAKING $DVPN

You must first set up your Sentinel Wallet before you can stake your $DVPN assets. You can use your mnemonic to get into your wallet if you already have one.

You can download the Sentinel wallet here:

Github repo: https://github.com/sentinel-official/desktop-client/releases/. There, you will find different wallet versions for operating systems including Mac, Linux, Android, Windows, etc.

For the v0.3.0 of the Sentinel wallet:

Don’t worry if your Mac or Windows PC warns you that this program isn’t safe to use. That’s correct. You only need to troubleshoot a few minor issues.

Should the left popup appear on your Mac (as shown below), all you need do is click ‘Show in Finder’. The Sentinel application will be picked when your Finder opens. If you right-click on ‘Open,’ you should see a popup similar to the one on the right. To restart the application, select the ‘Open’ option once more.

Select ‘More info’ in Windows and then the ‘Run anyhow’ button. Sentinel Client Manager will begin running in the background as soon as you open the application.
Authentication is now required. You’ll be prompted for a password; type admin. Remember that you’ll have to enter this password every time you open the wallet. Choose the ‘Login’ button next.

A screen for configuration will display. None of the settings need to be changed. To continue, select ‘Save.’
It’s now time to set up your account. Fill in your username and password, then write them down somewhere safe (ideally offline). You’ll be prompted for a mnemonic phrase as well. For the time being, ignore this section and choose ‘Create.’

Copy the account address and public key, then download or write down the mnemonic phrase.Scroll down and select ‘Continue’.

The Sentinel Wallet dashboard should now appear, and it should look somewhat like this. To transfer $DVPN funds to your wallet, use your public address.

You must choose a validator. Please refer to the Sentinel Choosing A Validator Guide if you are unfamiliar with the Sentinel Network’s validators or are unsure how to choose yours.
Scroll down to the list of validators on your wallet dashboard. Once you’ve identified the validator to whom you’d like to delegate your assets, pick the small ‘D’ to the right of their name.

A popup window should emerge, similar to the one below. Please double-check the validator address before going any further.

Fill in the amount of $DVPN you want to bet after that. You can also provide a memo if desired. After that, pick ‘Delegate’ and enter your password.

If its successful, you should get the image below.
